Cantaloupes are our main food crop here at Smith Farms. Most people don't realize the work that goes into bringing produce from the field to the dinner table.
Bob works hard everyday caring for our crops. There is so much more to it than just planting a few plants and waiting for a cantaloupe. After preparing the plant beds, you must provide water and fertilizer as well keeping weeds and pests away.
Our plants this year are growing well. Right on schedule, they are producing runners and flowering and we've even seen some baby cantaloupes about the size of peas. Soon we will have full, sweet fruit just right for picking.

Growing Well
Our squash has been the first to produce this year. Many of our plants already have small squash on them and it won't be long before they will be right for the picking.
I'm looking forward to sampling the first batch along with maybe some fried green tomatoes.

Spring has just sprung here at Smith Farms. Our watermelons and sweet corn are progressing nicely and we are getting ready to plant our hot peppers and our eggplants which are new additions this year.
I shall be posting throughout the growing season showing the progress of our plants. Feel free to contact us as produce become right for the picking.
